Accurate procedure development for applicable code work is a requirement of most codes. They are required by IBC, AISC, & AWS for structural welding.  Presentation and usage of these written procedures assures the job Engineer and Inspector(s) that the fabricator/erector has the knowledge to correctly apply the correct welding process, within acceptable welding parameters, to comply with the applicable code, joint design, welding position, base materials, electrode classification and specification, and other essential and non-essential variables.

For example, if a fabricator submitted procedures that stated they wanted to use GMAW-S for welding on D1.1 structural steel, it is apparent they don’t know the code restrictions on this process and its’ restrictions for use on structural application.

Making sure the welding procedure specification is correct, complete, and applicable can be an overwhelming task. Having all the needed documents to reference is expensive and putting them all together on the WPS form can be time consuming.

ATWI has the knowledge, experience, skills, and library resources to accomplish this procedure development .
