Non Destructive Examination (NDE) across the US. ASNT Level II qualified technicians in Magnetic Particle (MT) with a Mag Yoke and dry powder, Ultrasonic (UT) with a scope and couplant, and Visual (VT) with various weld gauges, lights, and tools to assure weld quality.
There are many aspects of Non Destructive Examination. All have to do with testing the welds and/or base materials without damaging anything so that it needs to be repaired or replaced.
Properly performed VT is the cheapest way to insure that the quality is met without more expensive testing and especially without destructive testing.
